Keep quotation attribution and context clear
A quotation is most useful when readers can understand who said it, where it came from and why it is relevant.
Verify before publishing
Check a quotation against a reliable original source where possible. Popular quote collections can repeat incorrect attributions or shortened wording. If you cannot establish the source, avoid presenting an uncertain attribution as fact.
Add your own explanation
Explain how the idea relates to the screen or workflow being discussed. A collection of quotations alone does not provide the same value as an original analysis, example or exercise. Keep quoted material proportionate to your own commentary.
Preserve the distinction
Label the quotation and your interpretation separately. Do not imply that the quoted person endorses your product or your particular design. In a team document, link to the source so others can read the surrounding context.
